Join hosts David and Colette Squires for 11 days in Vienna and Prague, exploring the arts, culture and worship life of these amazing world-class cities.
Vienna: the sparkling jewel of Central Europe. Ringing with the names of the Habsburgs, Mozart, Beethoven, and Gustav Klimt, this imperial city has been at the forefront of European politics, music, and art for centuries. Marvel at the splendour of the Schönbrunn Palace, the Vienna State Opera, and the Hofburg complex—home of the famed Lipizaner Stallions. Explore magnificent sacred spaces, from the medieval Stephansdom and Votivkirche, to the Baroque opulence of Karlskirche and Michaelerkirche. We’ll also cruise the Danube River to the spectacular Benedictine Abbey of Melk, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Then to Prague—the City of a Hundred Spires—once the capital of the Holy Roman Empire. Ramble the elegant Old Town, and cross the Charles Bridge to the charming streets and shops of Mala Strana, culminating in a tour of Prague Castle and St. Vitus’ Cathedral.
Stories abound in these Old World cities, from the religious and political tensions of past centuries to the more recent turbulent events of the 20th Century. Like so much of Europe, streetside cafés beckon, museums and galleries hold treasures most of us only read about, and great music can be found around every corner.
Join like-minded people who want to explore faith and art—several short morning discussions will give you background and focus to our experiences. Along the way you’ll make new friends and enjoy life and laughter. And of course, there will be free time for shopping or…you decide!
