Director of Development—Langley Christian School

Langley Christian School is accepting applications for a Director of Development. The successful applicant will fill an important strategic leadership role at LCS, working closely with our strategic leadership team in executing our plan for campus expansion and developing relationships with key stakeholders in the community.

Our community includes nearly 1200 students and over 160 staff on three campuses in one of Canada’s fastest growing
communities, located a short distance from Vancouver in the heart of the Fraser Valley. As an important member of our
Strategic Leadership Team, you will work in a collaborative organization with high standards.

The successful applicant will report directly to the Head of School, but will sit as a member of our Strategic Leadership Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing our school’s fundraising campaigns, communicating with current
and prospective donors, and building a strong advancement team for our organization. This position involves managing
individual and corporate gifts as well as planned and annual giving campaigns. The ideal candidate will possess a strong
background in non-profit fundraising and advancement, and carry out the following responsibilities within an educational

Strategic Planning & Leadership:
• Partners with the Head of School in donor cultivation
• Develops and partners with consultants in developing the LCS brand and campaign feasibility assessments
• Maintains effective working relationships with LCS’s leadership teams
• Facilitates Board member involvement in fund development programs, including major gifts, planned giving and
capital projects
• Participates with the Head of School in formulating organizational fundraising policies and long-range development
• Provides guidance and oversight of the LCS Foundation
• Develop and oversee the LCS annual Advancement plan, including marketing & fundraising program
• Cultivate a culture of giving amongst current and alumni families
• Identify prospective individual and corporate donors and develop strategies to cultivate those relationships
• Maintain ongoing communications with private and corporate donors
• Research donor relation programs and explore avenues of revenue
• Ensure timely and accurate report deliveries to funders
• Collaborate/coordinate with staff on the management and planning of fundraising events and donor receptions
• Develop marketing and promotional material related to fundraising in collaboration with the Communications and
Marketing Coordinator
• Coordinates Major Fund Development Initiatives: LCS Annual Fund and Capital Campaigns
• Works collaboratively to provide leadership of the Development Team, including Community Relations Coordinator
and Marketing and Communications Coordinator
• Special projects as other duties as required by the LCS Head of School

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably with an emphasis in community relations, business marketing or fundraising
• Marketing experience, training or understanding
• Ability to work in a collaborative, inclusive work environment
• Evidence of commitment to the Christian faith and service in the local church
• Evidence of courage, integrity, transparency and honesty in relationships
• Evidence of strong interpersonal communication, organizational, leadership and problem-solving skills
• Passionate about our vision to establish LCS as the best possible educational experience in the region
• Strong database skills and familiarity with donation/alumni tracking programs
• Experience in successful fundraising in non-profit or educational context

This is a salaried 1.0 FTE position. Salary and benefits based on experience and expertise.
