For some students, each of whom has an extraordinary story, scholarships and awards are major tools that enable them to attend Trinity Western University.
We’re happy to share Cindy-Leigh Meyer’s story with you: I am so grateful for donors who contribute to scholarships like those from which I have benefited: the James Ivan Pretty Bursary and the Student Assistance Fund Award.
I’m from Cape Town, South Africa, and it has always been a dream of mine to study abroad and to be able to play soccer at a varsity level–not just athletically, but also to play with an amazing team with awesome ladies who teach me a lot every day and show me what it is to really be a true servant of Christ. They’ve taught me how to be there for one another, no matter what. I’ve met great coaching staff at TWU who instil Christ in me, urge me to do everything to His glory and to be the best I can be. I’ve been really blessed with amazing friends around campus and everyone has been so wonderful. I’m so grateful: no words can express how much I appreciate this support.
I’m currently in my second year of studies for a Bachelor of Business Administration. So far, I have received the best education, and the opportunity to get a degree at TWU is just amazing. I’ve been taught from a young age that I can do all things, and that I can achieve anything I want in life if I’m willing to work hard for it.
Now, coming to know Christ and not only doing the hard work, but also putting Him first in all I do, I’ve been tremendously blessed. I come from a huge family, and it hasn’t been easy achieving these things. A year ago I was in South Africa with only a dream in my heart. It has only been through God’s grace and mercy that He has blessed me with the opportunity to study and play abroad and that I am able to testify and glorify Him for all the wonderful things He has done for me.
I hope to be a great influence in my family and community when I graduate; to be able to affect change in the workplace; to be a God-fearing businesswoman in South Africa to advance the kingdom. I believe that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and I am truly appreciative and indebted to those who have assisted my tuition. Thank you.
