Position: Children & Young Family Pastor

My Church is a spiritual family located in Bellingham, WA that is committed to experiencing the love of
Jesus in our lives together and extending it to the world around us. With a solid foundation established
and consistent growth over the past several years, My Church is at a pivotal point of expansion as we
move to coordinating 2 services. In conjunction, the Young Family Ministry is ready to be expanded as
well by cultivating the excitement from our youth with forward-thinking curriculum and developing new
initiatives to serve the Parents and Families of both our church and the community we are called to reach.
We are seeking a full-time Children & Young Family Pastor to expand our Children’s Ministry and Church
School as well as develop new Ministry Programs that serve our young families as a whole. The primary
focus will be leading and discipling the youngest generation of our church as you take ownership of a
dynamic children’s ministry, developing new programs and serving the spiritual needs of the children and
young families who make up our blessed community. As a member of the Leadership Team (reporting to
the Lead Pastor), you would work in conjunction with the leadership in developing, implementing, and
evaluating these new initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Children’s Ministry
● Develop long-range curriculum plan in collaboration with the Lead Pastor and oversee the
process of implementing curriculum across all classrooms at an age-appropriate learning level
● Prepare weekly lessons for each classroom that will create an environment which is safe, fun,
and will facilitate learning/encourage spiritual growth
● Recruit, train and lead volunteer teachers, support teams and classroom assistants in conjunction
with our volunteer recruiting and personnel policies as established by the Executive Pastor
● Schedule volunteers to ensure each classroom during services are adequately and appropriately
● Prepare annual ministry plans and budget recommendations for the children’s ministry in
conjunction with the Lead Pastor and the Executive Pastor
● Plan and lead special events such as children’s programs, mother’s/father’s day specials, and
children’s outreach
● Stay current on all child safety legislation/best practices and set appropriate systems in place to
ensure safety as outlined by the Executive Pastor
● Engage with parents as the spiritual leaders of their families, communicating what is being
imparted in classes and encouraging their active participation in their children’s spiritual journey
● Communicate with parents regarding special services, events, program or class changes
● Reach out to new families to welcome them into the children’s ministry program
Family Ministry
● Evaluate the current young family ministry needs of the church body in collaboration with the
Leadership Team
● Devise a strategic plan to address the needs including project timeline, volunteer needs, and
● Source Family Ministry curriculum, coordinate resources, training documents, templates,
marketing material, etc.

● Lead, implement, and execute defined programs through every phase
● Evaluate program success and make adjustments based on church feedback and leadership
team vision
● Spiritually mature and compatible with leadership and organizational structure
● Compatible with church doctrine and vision
● 5+ Years of Ministry experience working with youth or children
● 5+ Years of Program Management experience: creating, implementing, and tracking
● Documented track record developing and executing events that generated measurable results
● Proven track record of operational excellence in event or program management, including
building efficient processes/workflows
● Strong leadership and project management skills, with experience gaining consensus and
securing deliverables from individuals inside and outside of the organization
● Good communication and interpersonal skills
● A passion for growing the youngest generation of our church family
Reporting to: Lead Pastor
Initial review period: 6 months – during which regularly scheduled check-in meetings, constructive
feedback and training will be provided
