The TWU Alumni Way directs our planning and influences what we prioritize as an association. We have activities planned throughout the upcoming year designed to help our alumni community live out the TWU Alumni Way. Be sure to read your MEmails, follow us on social media, and check out our website so you don’t miss anything.
Follow Christ: Exclusively for Alumni Association members, we are curating a collection of alumni-written readings for both the Advent and Lent seasons. Watch for these readings to arrive in your inbox in late November and early February, respectively. Be sure we have your current email address so you don’t miss out.
Never Stop Learning: We’re excited to be offering more learning opportunities for alums. Follow us on facebook and twitter – we’re always posting on-campus lectures, guest speakers and events as we hear about them. In addition, here are two alumni specific learning opportunities.
- The Beginning of Wisdom, a walk through the book of Genesis – From January to March 2016, Prof. Calvin Townsend offered a 10-week Bible study described as “a spiritual and theologically careful reading” of Genesis. This study was available exclusively to Association members. Stay tuned for another Never Stop Learning opportunity this fall!
- Hearts and Minds Lecture Series – This new lecture series will feature several talks with culturally relevant topics that challenge and inspire our hearts and our minds, causing us to think deeply about our world, our faith, and our calling. Each session will fall under the year’s theme of “Growing in the Knowledge and Love of God.”
Develop the Whole Person: The TWU Fitness Centre is newly renovated and available for alums to use. Check out the discounted membership rates for alums and Association members.
Invest in Relationships: Through the Alumni Mentorship Program, each academic year the Alumni Association pairs current students with alumni mentors who share their program of study or another area of interest. This year we have 20 mentorship pairings.
Seek to Restore: In partnership with Student Life, the Alumni Association offered alums the opportunity to serve in their local community, alongside current students, on October 17 at the annual Fall Work Day.
Bring the Spark: We’ve compiled an inventory of alumni-approved books that bring the spark. Whether it challenges your opinion, expands your worldview, changes your perspective or initiates a change in your life, this is the place for you to both share good titles and look for your next one. Check out our Bring the Spark Book List just in time to inform your summer reading list. Have a book to share? Let us know.
